    Interesting New Jet Technology

You would think that would be classified, it’s so groundbreaking.

Yep. It is actually a scientific fact (somebody researched it) that the more rare a disaster is, the bigger a threat it is in the mind of the public. This is probably related to the much greater media coverage it gets, but not entirely. Part of it is psychological. When a threat is very...

I think we flew into Billy Mitchell once but can't remember it's been so long, the kids were babies. Going to have to ask Mark. Maybe I'm dreaming. W95 (Ocracoke) had a perpetual crosswind. My favorite landing of all time Mark did he had to use all his skill keeping it over the runway as...

Ocracoke? It is. Most of the beach is national park so it is unbuilt, and the village population is limited - they can’t build out. Busy tourist season but we preferred winter. For a while there it was our second home. Literally, we had a house there.

Not to mention the deliberately driving cars into crowds of people.

That one won’t be good for GA. Little airplanes raining down on people‘s homes. Lots of pictures in KR. The homeowner woke up (via loud noise) to find a wheel next to his bed. The couple was asleep upstairs, seems the plane missed them but not by much. Wow...

Yep, when we took off from Ocracoke we’d spiral up real high before we started out over the sound.

    Atmospheric reentry

Be an astronaut. But as an adult it turns out I’d have been much better at designing trajectories. I didn’t know either about the details of reentry and how they pinpoint the landing site. The video was extremely well done, if you go to the YouTube site the top comment says it well, “there is...

    Airplane Value

That’s hilarious! Our guy also looked at the car for just a few minutes, said it was actually better than expected, took the keys and took off. We met him at the airport and did the transaction in the parking lot. On top of paying us, he had to buy a commercial plane ticket and trust that the...

We just did this with a car! Collectible BMW, the guy made an offer and wired the money to our bank without even seeing the car much less doing any test drive or inspection. He lives on the east coast. We had the money a week before he flew down to get the car. I was so flabbergasted I...

I bought a book and studied wild mushrooms but still too scared to trust myself identifying them.

Agree completely. We used the planes for nothing but practical transportation except when we went up to watch fireworks from the air. (Underwhelming.) The boat was just to be on the water. It was more relaxing, the person not on the wheel could cook lunch, nap on an actual bed, and move...

Blast from the past! Some of the best times we had were flying to Ocracoke, it was our main family vacation/reunion location.

You’re into sailing too? We had a Cal 28 for many years. We sold it and bought a plane when we figured out instead of 8 hours just to cross the sound we could fly half way across the state in 90 minutes. ;)

Metadata? It’s information attached to a digital picture that you might not want known such as your geographical coordinates, your name, and what device you have. Edit: It’s there because as a photographer you might want that info attached. But it can get you in trouble, I believe metadata...
