So I just finished this book. I think it is fascinating if you are interested in the early history of flight.

This book was recommended in an article about building gliders by the president of the student glider club at Cornell University in 1912. The book is written in a time period when amateurs might build and experiment with their own aircraft without oversight. Flights of 80 miles had only recently been completed. It includes tables of all known heavier than air flights to date and of flights over one hour. It also discusses the then 7 fatalities to date. The author estimated that about 200,000 total miles had been flown.

The book has been scanned and is available on Google Play.
