How many guns actually make it onto planes?

With the reports each year of how many guns have been detected by the TSA, I always wonder how many actually make it onto planes?

The rate of failure when “red teams“ try and smuggle contraband is about 96% (https://onemileatatime.com/tsa-fails-tests-95-percent/). If one assumes the same rate for firearms detection, that would mean 163,550 make it onto planes. Since there are about 10,000,000 scheduled passenger flights each year, that would imply that 1.6% have a gun on board illegally.

Of course the “red team”s are often trying to smuggle more subtle contraband than a firearm, so the real number may be lower.
