POA Holiday

I'm going on an indefinite POA holiday. Just too many nonphysician Doctors here who claim to know what they can't possibly know. Worse, they think they know. Find me on the red board.

You know who you are however......you may apply to your state medical board for licensure....

On checking the doctor's recent posting history, the following post appears to be the first indication, and reason, for his notice to stay away from PoA for an indefinite time:

The problem here seems to be emotional stress or upset and a departure seems wise for now. (I've done the same thing in other realms - seemed to work for me.) The practice of medicine, dealing as it does with people's health and lives on a daily basis, is not kind to its practitioners; at least that seems to be the case.

There is an unavoidable PoA problem, though: if posters cannot post anonymously to the medical topics group, it loses some of its value. On the other hand the content of anonymous posts can't be controlled. The only post-post control lies in the minds and fingers of prospective PoA responders. Seeing as we are all slaves to our personalities, the kind of control we sometimes need fails us.

Well, I now know who to hire for my POA PR campaign....
Wouldn't work. A tad too many posters seem to glom onto the aspect of a post that most irritates them or that they most agree with - and so the rest of the post becomes a mental blur.

You did well on being a devil's advocate. With good emphasis on the devil. It appears not everyone assumes you are just being an advocate. The general gist of your original post seemed to contain some respect for his efforts but I get the impression that you seem to have the same aversion to excessive slobbering over professionals that I also have.
