Unmanned commercial craft to the moon?

Is it possible that this is more of a PR stunt? The problem is that a private company seems to have little economic incentive to got to the moon. Granted there are clearly some mining opportunities, but that cost of that extraction would seem to far outweigh the cost at this time?

Alaska Airlines Blowout Reveals Cockpit Door Vulnerability on Boeing Jet

Alaska Airlines Blowout Reveals Cockpit Door Vulnerability on Boeing Jet Saw this on WSJ this morning. I was actually aware of this, but I find it interesting that some people were not. What I find interesting is that people, namely the public, are still concerned over this facet of aviation...

Air France / Airbus finally on trial

Given the relative size of the French Air Force and the relatively smaller size of the French commercial airline fleet I would not be surprised if they have an higher ratio of military trained pilots than US airlines do.

Ex-UK Military Pilots Paid to Help PRC Military

In World War II one of the more effective tactics to get information from American POWs was after initial questioning, a fluent English speaking Wehrmacht officer to go in and talk to the POW. The Wehrmacht officer would look through the file and essentially claim they already knew everything...

Not really, I would actually think it is fairly common. I am actually more interested that you are not making the argument that it is not inherently dangerous.

    50 Rescue Dogs Survive Crash

Rescue aircraft crashed recently, guess all 53 dogs were ok, surprisingly. For the record I did not support this flight: https://thehill.com/homenews/3737560-plane-with-over-50-rescue-dogs-3-passengers-crash-lands-at-wisconsin-golf-course/

Horrible Accident at Wings Over Dallas Airshow ...

I have never even seen a P-63 outside of a book. I will have to see how the pilot position might differ due to the placement of the engine, but generally what you are saying seems cogent. The angle the two aircraft impacted though suggests the pilot of the P-63 was following the fighter in...

The 737 Max pain seems to go on and on for Boeing.

All the definitions of "fascism" seem to be tortuous ways to avoid conceding that National Socialism is still just socialism with a different design aesthetic. Any oppressive regime is going to want to control industry and religion whether it is communist, monarchical, or fascist. Religion is...

    Pilots have lower emotional IQ

I had to look up emotional intelligence, but it sounds a bit vague still. The study notes " forty-four pilots who volunteered to participate were primarily male (93%.)" If you took 44 men who were not pilots would you see this similar dearth of putative emotional intelligence? If you took 44...

Horrible Accident at Wings Over Dallas Airshow ...

I understand the P-63 has poor visibility due to the unusual engine placement, but I have no personal knowledge. I think the simple reality is hat these air shows are inherently dangerous.

Again with walking into a prop!

I am actually little surprised that the natural aversion to loud noises is not enough to ward off accidents.

The 737 Max pain seems to go on and on for Boeing.

Well, it is not supposed to help the public. It is supposed to help the government. More specifically, it helps those employed by the government. These fines often get injected directly into the budgets of agencies and can be used for any number of "off budget" expenditures, including travel to...

Russian pilot ejects, first person footage!

Though the accident does appear to have been confirmed, it does seem odd that it would be released so quickly. The USAF would certainly not permit its release and would not approve pilot wearing a personal "Go Pro." Maybe I am just not trusting enough, but what purpose is there in releasing the...

    How Southwest Airlines started

Yeah, the regulation was and is pretty bad. Some have argued that 121 flying was nicer before deregulation, though my guess is that had more to do with the novelty of flying at the time and a better work ethic on the part of airline employees.
