I ordered an aviation band receiver DIY kit to put together over Christmas. It is shipping from China, so they are predicting 23 Dec-12 January...

This should let me keep my handheld in the plane with me instead of leaving it plugged in for my wife to listen to while I am flying.
We'll see how good it is at tuning our closely packed frequencies.
I think I'll go total cheap-tastic on the antenna and make a 1/2 wave dipole out of coat hangers. (1.9 ft per leg, right Ron? :wink2: )
