MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certificates) NPRM Released

After reviewing the NPRM and giving it some thought, I don't think these changes will accomplish anything useful beyond letting sport pilots fly legacy airplanes like Cessna 172s and its competitors. The proposed rules don't seem to have any impact on the cost of new aircraft either. That's evident by the increasing costs even of experimental airplane kits. Any increase in the number of sport pilots would likely increase demand of legacy aircraft, causing them to increase in price. These rule have the potential to increase the demand for aircraft but not the supply of affordable aircraft.
