Last Thursday I was able to do a very nice 6.1 hour long soaring flight in my Schweitzer 1-26.

For those of you wondering what thermalling is like, here is a video of going around and around and around. The idea of course is to do this in lift to gain altitude.

A view to the north along the main ridgeline.

Up near the cloud bases.

A view to the north along the Vekhol wash east of the main ridge. This wash flows into the Gila river in the distance.

This storm had me a little worried for a while. It dissipated to the south of the field though so I didn't have to quickly land.

The late afternoon or early evening sun along the Palo Verde mountains to the south of the field. This is always my favorite time of day.

Closer to sunset showing showing both the main ridge to the right and the "little ridge" to the left. I spent about a half hour cruising along the little ridge
in continuous 400-600 feet per minute lift. Great way to end the day.
