This rule always illustrated perfectly the non-sensical nature of our aviation policies. It would not have prevented the very accident which led to its enactment!

This rule always illustrated perfectly the non-sensical nature of our aviation policies.

Keep in mind this was a congressional mandate that forced the FAA to change the rule. Congress along with their various lobbyists don't always have the aviation community's best interests in mind and only want to get reelected. Will be interesting if congress will reverse their own law to allow 500 hours SICs again.

Yes, both congress and regulatory agencies have their hand in this sort of mess. I would prefer to see them all get out of it.
