Rather close to wires?

This sent to me by a friend in Norway. What do other helo pilots think of this clearance from the wires? As the second picture shows, the pilot chose to land like this rather than a bit further away.

Well. I hope there was a justification for the choice. I’ve flown under wires that low but never landed. Hard to see any reason for the added risk from the pictures.

Well, I suppose I can now comment on a picture I took. I would say it was about ten meters away from the power lines. The issue that worried me is how wind can move through these Fjords.

You’re the friend in Norway? Cool. Or maybe this time of year, cold.

Lol, I wish I lived in a temperate coastal fjord, I live in Wyoming where it is way colder. I was backpacking in Norway and took a scenic flight. Generally I am little weary of such tourist flights, but thought that maybe in Northern Europe the safety parameters would be better than they are elsewhere. The pilot and helicopter also served offshore platforms so I figured it was not some kid in an old R44, but the wires were a little worrisome.

Wow. I’d risk death to take a flight like that. At least when I was young and adventuresome. Fantastic picture, I can‘t imagine what it looked like in real life.

Well, some risk is fine, the proximity to the power cables seemed unnecessary given the width of the landing area. Though the flight was very much worth it (having landed).
