Does anyone more familiar with the FAA have any idea on when they would typically respond to a petition like this? I know with some government agencies there is a time frame once comments are closed to respond I don't believe this is the case with the FAA.

I agree with others here that this is not going to happen and had it been presented differently we may have been farther along but I am just curious if there is a typical time frame in which the FAA responds to these types of things?

I think you mean 800 Independence Ave.
That said, the FAA is probably the wrong target for such efforts. One would need to effect changes in the statutes that the FAA is required to follow. Right now NBAA claims there are congressmen working to make changes to the recently passed Pilots Bill of Rights and it seems to me there is no reason some more changes to medical certification can't also be made part of those same efforts:
