Having flown this dozens of times as a passenger this was sobering:

Do they know what happened? It looks like maybe taking off and lost power?

The Otter took off from Roche Harbor (the seaplane dock not the runway) heading to Lake Union, diverted for weather and crashed right off Sucia Island, perhaps a little too close. I assume in seaplanes when forced to land you try and land away from obstacles unless the objective is to get people closer to land?
