Wow, I think Apple changed something in the updates. I don’t see how to do it now without installing a third party app.
I have installed the add-on that can strip EXIF data from attachment uploads. I have enabled automatic stripping of EXIF data in any attachments you upload. Thanks for the info. Will definitely get it resolved it seems.
As to having the board scrub metadata, I see no negatives.
I just now verified that the add-on removed the EXIF data. I uploaded an iPhone image to a test thread with the add-on enabled and then with it disabled. In each case I then downloaded the image to my iPad photo library and checked the info on the picture. In both cases it showed the image as coming from the Safari browser but all the camera and geolocation info was appropriately stripped when the add-on was running and that info was still there when the add-on was not running. Thanks, Jim. That's a really nice, considerate feature for a public forum to have.
For those of us who aren’t techies or engineers (looking at you, Rush!) can you explain what this means and why you would want to do it?I wanted to start up a pictures thread but would like to strip off the metadata/EXIF first.

Metadata? It’s information attached to a digital picture that you might not want known such as your geographical coordinates, your name, and what device you have. For those of us who aren’t techies or engineers (looking at you, Rush!) can you explain what this means and why you would want to do it?
I'd have just pointed to this explanation:Metadata? It’s information attached to a digital picture that you might not want known such as your geographical coordinates, your name, and what device you have.
…Metadata?
Somehow I don’t see you as the soil the bed typeBut it can get you in trouble, I believe metadata was used against Amber Heard in the Heard/Depp trial.
You would be correct, I’m not a psycho bitch with a personality disorder.…
